Protein Shake

Happy Hump Day!!

We had run out of protein powder and I havent been making my breakfast shakes at all. (sad panda)  As I mentioned in last nights post, we went over to GNC and picked up some much-needed whey protein.  (along with some fresh fruits and spinach)

Protein shakes have become so fun for me.  The combination of different types of fruit, vegetables, and/or flavored protein makes it feel like your having a different meal each day.  The way the flavors come together is so neat.  (can’t say the same about the color 😦 ) and call me lazy but just putting all the ingredients into a blender makes it so easy to fit anyone’s lifestyle.

This morning I woke up excited to use the “double-decker chocolate” protein powder we purchased.  I combined it with some almond milk, spinach, blueberries, strawberries and a large banana.  And voila I had my breakfast ….

Do you make protein shakes? Whats your favorite combination?

Back to Running

Happy Tuesday!!!

It has been about a week since my last post.  Where do the days go!?  Besides the usual, I got back to running this past weekend and it feels so good.  I have never been a “runner” so I will not call myself one but I will try my best to keep up with my runs in order to call myself a runner in the near future.

I normally visit my mom on weekends in the city and decided it would be perfect if Sean and her would stop at the playground while I ran the Central Park Reservoir running track.  Saturday morning was a little chilly and I was having a hard time convincing myself to get up and go but God always has his ways of throwing in a sign or two.

While at the grocery store picking up some things, I started to converse with a complete stranger. (nope.  nothing unusual about this.  it happens ALL the time to me)  He first started talking to Sean and then proceeded to tell me I had amazing sneakers. (uhm, okay thanks!)  When I look down towards his feet he had the exact same ones and said they were the most comfortable sneakers he has ever worn.  He continued to speak about running a half marathon in them and how they felt so light.  I had to admit that they are pretty light and comfortable. I expressed my interest in running and told him about my intentions of running that morning but that I felt it was way to cold out.  (Silly ol’ me didn’t know what he was going to say next)

He told me he was a long distance runner and that he had been running since the age of thirteen in the mountains of Africa where it normally was twenty degrees farenheit.  (Ouch!) He went on to describe his love for running and even gave me some tips on how to improve on speed and distance!  (I definitely needed them)

I felt like it was God’s way of telling me to stop the B&%$ing and the moaning and get to work.  That same day I went to the reservoir and enjoyed my run.  I enjoyed it so much I went back on Sunday for some more.  Today, I ran around my neighborhood since there isn’t a park close by and also ran up the nine flights of stairs to my apartment.  When I got upstairs I did some calisthenics and now I am going to enjoy some QT with Sean since Carlos is at the gym. 🙂

PS We also stopped by GNC and bought some much needed protein!  Can’t wait to make a protein shake tomorrow morning with all the fresh fruit we bought as well.  I will share the goods tomorrow morning. 🙂

How do you get motivated to run/workout?  Any helpful workout tips?

Movie Etiquette

Seems like no one has any these days ….

Tonight Carlos and I went to the movies and it sure was an experience.  We went to see “The Hunger Games”.  I’d gotten about hundred pages into the book, but then never found time to finish it (embarrassed panda).  When he picked me up from work today, Carlos suggested we go to the movies since we haven’t gone in awhile.  Of course I was excited to see “The Hunger Games” since everyone has not stopped raving about it.  I have to admit they had every right to do so.  It was awesome!  and Katniss was so kick a$$!! I am even thinking of naming my future child Katniss, whether its a girl or not.  (Okay, I definitely took it too far but you get the point! ) I immediately compared her to Twilight’s character, Bella and I am now officially a part of team Katniss!  Where can I get a shirt!?

But lets get to the real reason that I am writing this post ….

Did I miss any change/update to what people consider “movie etiquette”!?

It seems like the people in the theater were given handbooks with new movie etiquette and from the looks of it these were some of the rules in it …

1. Food from outside is now allowed in the theater, but must be brought in a plastic bag and you must make as much noise as possible when opening and closing the bag along with chewing the food as loud as you can.

2. Cell phone use is now permitted during the movie.

3. The center aisle can now be used as a playground for small children to run up and down.

4. If you must hold a conversation please speak as loudly as possible so that the entire      audience can hear you.

YES! This all happened tonight and I was so annoyed, but as they say lessoned learned! I will not be going to this theater again. grrrr!

What are some of your pet peeves when watching a movie?

Adios March?

Happy Monday!

We are two days into April!  Where the heck did March go?  Time has been flying by lately.  As if my weekends weren’t short already, now they just feel nonexistent.

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, my weekends have been kind of altered now that I have a family.  They seem to be, uhm, let’s say kid friendly.

Friday after work I went to pick up my godson (2) and nephew (13).  Their parents were having a date night and asked if I could spend a couple of hours with them. I absolutely love these two so I said yes without even thinking twice about it.  We had dinner, played and watched a movie until their parents came to get them.  I have to admit, I love having kids at our place.  The running around, the laughing and conversing just makes a home feel full.  For now I am fine with just having Sean but in the future I wish to have more.

How could you not want a bunch of these little faces!?

Evan (2) ... His dad might kill me for putting this up since he is a Giants fan but at my house we're JETS fans!

Saturday was another kid friendly day.  We went to a friends daughter’s birthday party.  The little princess turned one.  In Hispanic culture first birthdays are a big deal. Unfortunately, I didn’t get many pictures of Alysse, her beautiful cake or the adorable decor. (you’re just going to have to take my word on it) Owls everywhere!  Loved it!  I am still new to this whole blogging thing and need to get accustomed to taking a camera EVERYWHERE and taking pictures of EVERYTHING to share with you guys.

Below are a couple of pictures I took of us celebrating. (with my handy dandy iPhone)

The boys!

Silly boys!

My love & I! ❤

Sunday I spent the entire day running errands and cleaning.  (yeah, I know.  BLAH!)

I absolutely love my family and friends.  They make a laid back weekend so much fun! xoxo

Hope you guys had a great weekend and a good Monday!
